“Playground For Salvation” was created entirely during the first quarantine of 2020, in my Berlin studio. The stillness of the lockdown enabled me to experiment and push myself more, to challenge myself to create bigger, more intricate functional objects, lighting and furniture pieces from clay.
The collection is inspired by the microscopic images of molecules and cells. The exploration of the idea came after stumbling upon stunning microscopic image of the virus COVID-19. Realizing, that every living organism in the nature, even if it is a harmful one, could be beautiful. Going through massive amount of photos through research, the direction of the collection became clear.
It is an exploration of a very intimate, personal battle of an artist and a human being in a surreal moment. An act of creation as a salvation and a victory.
The collection consists of eleven sculptural, functional pieces. Baso, Chemoki, Dendri lamps, Erythro chair, Eosino shelf, Cyto and Kine vases, Fibrobla coffee table, Macropha and Neutro vessels, Pluri bowl.
The names of the pieces are derived from the elements of immune system, caring the symbolic meaning for the persistence to survive.
All of the pieces are hand-built from black clay, with details of paint.
